Is Telling Kids Santa Claus Is Real a Bad Idea? The case for ending the Santa Claus myth


 
 "Also, there is the matter of trust.  Do we really need to undermine the solidity of children’s precious trust in parents and adults by eventually letting them in on nothing less than a vast, elaborate conspiracy and hoax under the guise of innocent, childhood fun and fantasy?"
 
It seems as though belief in outlandish ideas like the Apollo Moon Landings or 911 goes back to childhood and the pressure that is put on young kids to believe lies such as the Santa Clause myth. -Adam

The Intersection of Buddhism and the Beat Generation



 Much to the detriment of his practice, he experienced pain in his legs when he sat down to meditate. This was due in large part to phlebitis, or blood clots, which resulted from his use of amphetamines. Despite the excruciating pain, Kerouac remained resolute in his meditation routine and felt bliss when he sat. He wrote about his meditation experiences in a poem that he called “How to Meditate.”
