Things to Come (1936)

One of the dreams of the electronics industry is to make a television screen that will hang flat on the wall.

Imagine what such a tv receiver would be like. There would be no tube to form the picture, instead the screen would be a mosaic made up of thousands of separate light elements.

...It won't be too long before the electronics industry will be able to fit such a tremendous complex of control circuitry into a package no bigger than today's portable television sets.

Microelectronics is the reason."

From "The impact of Microelectronics" Frank Leary 1965
