DEF CON 21 - Melissa Elliott - Noise Floor Exploring Unintentional Radio Emissions

This gets quite longwinded but it is quite interesting if you consider the implications. Basically, there is no such thing as being secure in your privacy when it comes to electronics.

Your computer, phone, toaster, everything is broadcasting a signal that can be intercepted with the right set of hardware and decoded with the right software.

An SDR dongle that you can purchase for less than 10$ on ebay can allow you a peek into this world of machine chatter.

It also makes web/email security a moot point when the "authorities" can intercept and decode what comes out of a standard typewriter.
